BREAKING-IN (RIDDEN) A YOUNG HORSE
2 days assessment
LEVEL REQUIRED : GALOP 7 OR EXPERIENCE
On this course the student will aim to:
- carry out the different steps for breaking-in on the ground
- break-in a young horse on the ground
1/ Organise the first session in the stable
2/ Handle a young horse in-hand
3/ Load and unload a young horse from a trailer or lorry
4/ Carry out upward abd downward transitions from the ground
5/ Saddle a young horse for the first time
6/ Mount a young horse for the first timel
7/ To effect walk and trot, ridden, for the first time
8/ Carry out canter, ridden, for the first time
9/ Cope with small obstacles, ridden
10/ Take a horse into the starting gates
11/ Work a young horse on long reins
